Almost Dave: Untrusty American Dream

Lately, the David Wilcox mailing list has had a good deal of fun writing parodies to David's songs. I've collected the efforts on these pages. I hope you enjoy.

Well he isn’t all that special, but just look at all he’s done:
He was president two times before he turned 51.
And the ’96 election, I’m surprised he passed.
Won’t you come along now, Y2K and get this man out fast?

He’s America’s best politician
Climbing up on his plans and his schemes
And he has us stuck on the road going nowhere
Untrusty American Dream.

Then Zippergate, well, climaxed (ouch!) back in 1998,
And the people said, “You’re outa here. For that we cannot wait.”
But he cried for mercy, pleading “Do not send me to jail.
Yes, we did the things you said but not one time did she inhale.”

He’s America’s best politician
Climbing up on his plans and his schemes
And he has us stuck on the road going nowhere
Untrusty American Dream.
